Eyl 03, 2021

Tekfen Foundation has chosen the recipients of its Music Scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic year. As a result of the evaluations made by the jury, chaired by Tekfen Philharmonic’s Artistic Director and Permanent Conductor Aziz Shokhakimov, the new recipients of the scholarship are Simay Gönültaş (bassoon) and Barok Bostancı (viola).

Tekfen Foundation has launched its Music Scholarship programme in 2019 to further increase its contribution to classical music. In the third year of the programme, 49 students applied for the scholarship given for undergraduate degree abroad in the field of classical Western music. Sixteen applications were qualified for the second round, while the candidates were evaluated before the jury on six basic criteria: technique, musicality, intonation, stage presence, passion, and potential.

One of the new recipients of the scholarship, Simay Gönültaş (bassoon), continues her education at the Musikhochschule Lübeck (Germany), while the other recipient, Barok Bostancı (viola), attends the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin (Germany).

Two of the previous recipients of the scholarship, Yunus Altıkanat (cello) continues his education at the Barenboim-Said Akademie in Berlin and Seher Karabiber (flute) at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.

We wish the young musicians every success in their future endeavours!
