With the conclusion of Tekfen Holding’s 2020 general assembly and subsequent Board of Directors meetings, Murat Gigin, who has been the board’s chairman since 2015, turned over the position to his successor, Zekeriya Yıldırım. Concurrent with this change, Ali A. Pandır has also taken over as Tekfen Group Companies president, a position previously held by Cahit Oklap since 2019.
In his first statement as Tekfen Holding’s new chairman Mr Yıldırım said “Tekfen has proven its leadership in all of its business lines and has become a recognised symbol of a successful enterprise in Turkey. However, Tekfen has never been known solely for its commercial successes: it has always been a company which creates value for the community and the nation and which acknowledges and fulfills its social and environmental responsibilities. What is incumbent on us now is, first and foremost, to maintain both the culture of consensus and participation and the mission of creating social benefit that were bequeathed to us by the founding partners and to preserve Tekfen’s multidimensional sense of responsibility as we continue building upon the successes of those who came before us.
Ali A. Pandır, who has taken over as Tekfen Group Companies president, is the first person to hold that position in the group’s 65-year history without having previously worked for Tekfen. In his first statement Mr Pandır said “In the course of my professional career of nearly forty years both in Turkey and abroad, I have always admired the way that Tekfen does business and represents Turkey to the rest of the world. I am greatly delighted to be part of a group such as this. Now as we continue to move forward, our primary objective will be to take Tekfen even further ahead and create even more value for our stakeholders in every way while never straying from the path laid out by our founders.
At its first meeting after the general assembly, the Tekfen Board of Directors voted to make the following position assignments in the new term:
